Post-Publication Discussion and Corrections Policy

KIRANA: Social Science Journal (eISSN 3062-780X)

1. Purpose

KIRANA: Social Science Journal encourages open scholarly discussion of the articles it publishes. This policy describes how readers, researchers, and authors may comment on, question, or challenge published work, and how the journal responds, in line with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

2. Channels for Post-Publication Discussion

a. Letters to the Editor / Comments.
Readers may submit a short, evidence-based comment on an article published in the journal. Comments should be constructive, focus on the scholarly content, and be submitted within [e.g., 12 months] of the article’s publication, although later submissions may be considered in exceptional cases.

Submissions should:

  • Identify the article concerned (title, authors, volume, issue, DOI);
  • Be no longer than [e.g., 1,000 words];
  • Be sent through the journal’s submission system or by email to [journal email address], with the subject line “Post-Publication Comment.”

b. Author’s Reply.
The authors of the original article will be invited to respond to any comment accepted for publication. The comment and reply are normally published together, are linked to the original article, and are indexed with their own DOI [delete if not applicable].

c. Reader comments on the article page.
[Optional: Readers may leave comments through the comment feature on each article page. Comments are moderated and will be removed if they are abusive, off-topic, promotional, or defamatory.] [Delete if not enabled.]

d. Reporting errors.
Readers may report factual errors, data problems, or other concerns directly to the editorial office at [journal email address].

3. Review of Comments

All submitted comments are assessed by the Editor-in-Chief or an editor not involved in the original article. The journal may seek the opinion of an independent reviewer. Comments will be accepted if they:

  • Raise a substantive scholarly point or identify a verifiable error;
  • Are respectful, factual, and free from personal attacks;
  • Do not repeat issues already addressed.

The editorial office will inform the commenter of the decision within [e.g., 30 days].

4. Corrections and Retractions

When a valid concern is confirmed, the journal will take appropriate action:

  • Correction (erratum or corrigendum): for errors that do not invalidate the findings;
  • Expression of concern: while an investigation is ongoing;
  • Retraction: for serious problems, such as fabrication, plagiarism, or major errors that invalidate the results, following the COPE Retraction Guidelines.

Corrections and retractions are published openly and linked to the original article. Original articles are not silently altered after publication. Concerns that suggest misconduct are handled under the journal’s Allegation of Research Misconduct policy [URL].

5. Conduct and Confidentiality

All discussion must follow scholarly standards of civility. The journal reserves the right to decline or remove content that is defamatory, discriminatory, or unrelated to the article. Personal data of those who raise concerns will be handled confidentially.
