Electronic Archiving and Preservation Policy

KIRANA: Social Science Journal (eISSN 3062-780X)

1. Purpose

KIRANA: Social Science Journal is committed to ensuring that all published content remains permanently accessible, citable, and protected against loss. This policy describes how the journal archives and preserves its electronic content.

2. Archiving Methods

a. Journal website (OJS) archive.
All published issues and articles are stored in the Archives section of the journal website [URL of Archives page] and remain freely accessible to the public.

b. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).
The journal participates in the PKP Preservation Network, which uses the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system. Content is stored across multiple geographically distributed servers, which allows it to be restored if the journal website becomes unavailable. [Delete if not yet enrolled.]

c. Portal Garuda and national repositories.
Article metadata is indexed in Portal Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital), operated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia. [Delete if not applicable.]

d. Institutional repository.
Copies of published articles are deposited in [name of institution’s repository, URL]. [Delete if not applicable.]

e. Internal backups.
The editorial office keeps regular backups of the journal database and files (articles in PDF and XML/JATS formats, if available) on [server/cloud storage]. Backups are performed [e.g., weekly/monthly] and stored separately from the main server.

3. Persistent Identifiers

Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) [delete if not applicable], so that citations remain valid even if the article’s web address changes. The journal will keep DOI metadata up to date with Crossref.

4. Long-Term Access

If the journal ceases publication or its website becomes unavailable, the editorial board will make every effort to ensure that published content remains accessible through the preservation services listed above.

5. Format of Archived Content

Articles are archived in PDF format [and HTML/XML where available], together with their metadata (title, authors, abstract, keywords, DOI, and publication date).

6. Authors’ Rights

Authors retain the right to deposit their published articles in institutional or subject repositories, provided that the original publication in KIRANA: Social Science Journal is properly cited.
