Abstract

Karst ecosystems generally have low soil fertility. The extreme conditions of karst ecosystems are a limiting factor for the growth of living things, including plants and karst microorganisms. Karst soils are characterized by high calcium (Ca) content, which affects the availability of essential elements to plants in karst habitats, with the exudates of each plant affecting the density of microbes in the rhizosphere. The aim of this study was to determine the distribution and abundance of actinomycetes from different plants in the Gorontalo karst ecosystem. Sampling was carried out in three locations including Bangga Paguyaman Pantai Village, Olohuta Kabila Bone Village and Panipi Village, Batudaa District, Gorontalo Province using purposive sampling method. The results showed that physicochemical factors including moisture (1.2%-3.24%) and pH (6.5-7.04) of the rhizosphere tended to be the same, so the population density of actinomycetes in the five plant rhizosphere soils also tended to be uniform. The abundance of Actinomyces population in the rhizosphere of 5 plant species in three sample collection sites showed different results in the range of 40 CFU/g to 180 CFU/g.
